SprintDog™ is an exciting and inclusive sport designed for all dogs, regardless of breed or size. This unique, timed 100-meter sprint provides dogs and their handlers with a fun, healthy, and engaging way to compete while promoting fitness and speed. Whether your dog is chasing a lure or recalling to you at the finish line, SprintDog™ allows your dog to showcase their individual speed and agility.

How SprintDog™ Works

In SprintDog™, dogs run a timed 100-meter sprint, either chasing a lure or racing back to their handler. The dog's performance is measured over two runs, with the average time converted into speed. To ensure fairness and give every dog a chance to succeed, points are awarded based on height handicaps, so dogs of all sizes are on equal footing. These points accumulate towards SprintDog™ titles, allowing dogs to earn prestigious accolades as they progress.

Competition is focused entirely on individual performance, meaning dogs do not race against one another. Instead, the goal is for each dog to improve their own time, with titles being awarded based on the accumulation of points across multiple events. This format encourages personal growth for both the dog and their handler.

Who Can Participate?

SprintDog™ is open to all dogs that are registered on the Dogs Australia Limited Main, Sporting, or Associate Register. To participate, dogs must be over 12 months old. SprintDog™ offers a wonderful opportunity for dogs of all ages and abilities to get involved in an enjoyable activity that promotes health, fitness, and bonding with their handlers.

Training and Preparation

Training for SprintDog™ is an excellent way to familiarise your dog with the sport, helping them understand the rules and practice their runs without the pressure of a formal trial. It provides a safe and encouraging environment for both experienced and novice participants, allowing handlers to see if their dog is eager to race and get comfortable with the event format.
